Brooke Allen is a founding Board Member of African Environmental Film Foundation. She met Simon Trevor on her first visit to Africa in 1973, and has closely followed his work and career since that time. She has visited Kenya numerous times and also served as a board member on the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife during the 1980s.

Brooke has worked as an editor and has been for many years a freelance writer and book critic, publishing frequently in such venues as the New York Times Book Review, the Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, and The New Criterion. She is currently a contributing editor of The Hudson Review. She is the author of two books of literary criticism, a work of history (Moral Minority: Our Skeptical Founding Fathers), a biography of Benazir Bhutto, and a (pre-revolution!) travel memoir on Syria.

Brooke is a professor of Literature at Bennington College.
